Solar power is good for supplying energy but will it work for heating a hot tub? A hot tub needs constant energy to keep the water warm and so if you live in a place where there is a lot of sun, perhaps the sun could be used to heat it. The first problem is that not enough people live in a place that gets constant sun. Only the desert states have that amount of sunlight and that is not enough demand for this type of hot tub for manufacturers to make money. Also, since there would be no sunlight at night, you would still have to keep the water hot during those dark hours. This would mean that the hot tub would have to run on electricity as well.

A solar powered hot tub sounds like a great idea especially if you are interested in saving energy and the environment. You can find parts if you like to construct a makeshift solar panel heater for your hot tub but it will probably end up costing more that it will ever save. This is the reason why manufacturers don’t make solar hot tubs.

One thing you might want to buy is a solar hot tub cover. Every hot tub needs a cover because it will help keep the energy in and keep the water hot. A cover with a solar panel on it will work better than just a regular cover and keep the water warmer. Solar hot tub covers are available online at certain places but they are hard to find at real brick and mortar stores.

The low demand means that hot tubs powered by solar energy may never find their way on to the market. Even though it is a great idea, if money cant be made by it then no manufacturer will go forward with the idea. If you are interested in solar energy for any type of appliance, right now about the only thing you can do is to by solar panels and find a way to attach them to the power source.
